Robert Kagan (born September 26, 1958 in Athens, Greece) is an US publicist and columnist for The Washington Post. Kagan graduated from Yale University, where he studied history . He later earned a master’s degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a PhD from American University in Washington, D.C.He is also a is a senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington D.C. This private, nonprofit organization is dedicated to advancing cooperation between nations and promoting active international engagement by the United States.

He also was a foreign policy advisor to John Mc Cain, the Republican Party`s nominee for the President of the United States in the 2008 election.
