“Discussions of poverty, welfare and crisis often say little about the unpaid work that goes into sustaining human welfare; but livelihoods depend as much on paid work … as they do on the unpaid care provided by family members, neighbours and friends (very often women).”

In her lecture, Shahra Razavi presents a recent study undertaken by UNRISD which looks at care in a development context in countries like Argentinia, India and Switzerland.
