Roma-discourses. Racism in times of crisis

Assaults on the largest minority in Europe, the roma and sinti, have been rising significantly during the recent year. Moreover, the right-wing populist parties are gaining much popularity and are blaming the Roma communities, among others, as being the reason behind social and economic problems, which have just  intensified due to the recent financial crisis.

In this meeting, the panelists evaluate the current situation in Austria and its Southern European neighbouring countries as well as discuss possible strategies to confront right-wing populism. Furthermore the panelists debate about necessary steps to empower Roma and Sinti in Europe.

Reports like this tends to make me personally very depressed, I am aware it is always cleche to say if we are able to all just simply get along, but how much more of this stuff are we all going to endure?
